Product description

For many years cleaning experts use worldwide proven SITA fluorescence measuring technology including hand-held devices for cleanliness control of variously shaped parts or part specific inline measurement with high throughput. The new SITA FluoScan 3D is a universal system solution for contact-free cleanliness control uniting advantages of both approaches.

Slightest traces of contamination on parts are detected easily and reliably by using the characteristic feature of organic substances such as oils, greases and surfactants to fluoresce when excited with ultraviolet light. The system uses a 3-axis positioning unit and automatically scans the surface using a predefined path with up to 50 measurements per second. The measuring result is given in RFU (Relative Fluorescence Unit). The measuring value inceases with inceasing contamination of the surface.

Measuring principle

Typical contamination on surfaces in industrial manufacturing processes such as oils, greases or surfactants fluoresce when excited with ultraviolet light.

The measured intensity of fluorescence radiation increases with the thickness of the contamination layer.

An integrated UV-LED stimulates the excitation of the fluorescence. A photo-diode measures the intensity of the resulting fluorescence radiation.


Automated inspection of die cast aluminium before bonding

In manufacturing processes of cast parts release agents are used. In follow-up processes such as the bonding of sealing grooves, release agent residues lead to insufficient adhesion of the bonding joint.

By inspecting the cleanliness of a sealing groove via fluorescence measurement, the quality of the bonding joint is ensured.

Inspection of printed circuit boards

To meet the high quality requirements of bonding and soldering processes, pads have to be free of organic contamination. By scanning the pads cleanliness can be controlled and high quality standards are ensured.

Defects can be identified at an early time and thus, rejects and costly system failures can be prevented.


The integrated software consists of two individual components:

•Measung-Sequence-Creator (Creation of individual measuring sequences using Drag&Drop with predesigned functions)

•Result-Viewer (Display of measuring results)The seperate Result-Viewer enables the display and evaluation of the measuring results on various PCs as well as the export of data to Excel.
